MECA-INOX produces more than 150,000 valves per year and hundred of components and articles are received weekly, from the material bar to the inductive position sensor.
The incoming quality controller guarantees independently the conformity of these supplies with our technical specifications of purchase on aspects such as traceability, certificates of conformity, dimensions or chemical composition.
Damien is incoming quality controller at our industrial site of Gisors. He explains to us the use of two devices that are essential for his work : the PMI and the three dimentional arm Faro.
– PMI means Positive Material Identification and is a device that gives the exact grade of stainless steel parts and components by measuring the chemical composition. It is a non-destructive, very fast and highly reliablke measure we use on raw materials but also on subcontracting parts or to carry out specific expertises. An accurate identity card of the chemical composition of metals can be obtained and thanks to its integrated database the check of conformity of materials is fastened.
The PMI uses an X-ray source and its use requires a specific training of Radiation Protection accreditation as well as maintenant and calibration regulated by an organization authorized by the Nuclear Safety Authority.
– The three dimentional arm Faro has a completely different function : it is a software driven by 3D measuring device that allows reliable and precise dimensional and geometrical control of parts that could not be measured by another too like our balls for example.
As any measuring and control device, the Faro arm requires regular maintenance and calibration by our Metrology team. MECA-INOX regularly invests in new control and measuring tools to guarantee the performance and reliability of our valves in all their different application ranges.
